Need your advice...

vbSEO'ers,

I need your advice on which situation would be most beneficial for SEO in the long run and usability.

My current setup is:
http://www.domain.com = vbadvanced
http://www.domain.com/forum/ = forum

However, we are going to upgrade to 3.6 and are no longer going to use vbadvanced as the forum home - we are turning the forum into its home. So, which situation would be better?

1) Leaving the forum in its current directory and setting up a redirect from http://www.domain.com to http://www.domain.com/forum/

or

2) Moving the forum into the root directory so there would be no redirect from http://www.domain.com to http://www.domain.com/forum/

Your opinions on this matter would be much appreciated.

I always prefer not having the forum in a sub-directory. I like forum.domain.com or the forum at root instead.

How many indexed pages do you have right now? How long has your site been online?

The site has been online for about a year now and using vbSEO a little over 4 months.

Google: 900
Yahoo: 14,427
MSN: 923

Yahoo loves us - they provide over 48% of our overall traffic.

I have decided to go ahead and move the forum to the root folder. I think Yahoo will catch back up with us as they at least 40 of their bots continuously crawl our site each day.
