My experience with vbseo so far

Last week I bought and installed vbseo on my site EnjoyCG - 3ds max video tutorials and CG community, which went quite smoothly so far, all I need to fix now is the vb url rewrites and integration with vb+vba which was messed up a bit. I've also made some template and setting changes to improve SEO, with tips from this useful thread.

Of course what matters are the results, and to be honest I'm quite surprised so far, because yesterday already saw quite an increase in organic traffic, do you think this is already caused by vbseo? (I installed it on the 12th of september (2007), here's a graph from google analytics:

Any thoughts and/or critique on my forum in terms of SEO and also design are appreciated.

    WOW

What a nice forum, design the lot

Would you mind sharing with me the hacks / mods you have done to achieve that look? I wouldn't mind customising that for use on one of our forums.

As for the results, vBSEO has no definitive right or wrong way of this will work, looking at your figures it looks like it has kicked in already.

Looks like Google likes it anyway, alot of friendly URLs there already

Thanks, I'm glad you like it, I hadn't even seen that google site: like that, it does look pretty neat. I've used quite a few mods on my site, most of them pretty simple, but few of them are perfect out of the box so I tend to customize them quite a bit (mainly template edits, with some html and CSS skills it's quite easy to do). most of these mods are quite lightweight, so are ok on performance as well. I've designed the header and footer of my site from scratch, just take a look at the html and css sources if you want to know how I did it. If i missed something here feel free to ask something specific, there might be more I haven't listed here..

There is one thing i can advise is to replace your image resizer hack. The one you are using is not seo friendly. Because of that hack page validation breaks. If you dont mind an easy file edit i strongly advise you to use Dynamic Picture Resize for [IMG] tag - vBulletin.org Forum I personally used Spleasure's hack for a long time but this one is way better.

Griffin: Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean about the recent threads exactly, on the homepage, enjoycg.com the latest threads are part of vbadvanced cmps, which has this module included. If you're talking about something else, post the url here so I know what page you mean exactly.

Mert Gökçeimam: Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely have a look at that mod.
