    Meta tags - Keywords & Description

    I have set up keywords & description for meta tags in the admincp -> Vbulletin options -> General settings. I was hoping meta tags to be placed in the forum pages based on this setup.

    But when I do a view source of a 'showthread.php' that displays a message thread, I see the meta tags placed there with different values. From where is the keywords & description pulled for meta tags?

    Please help.

    Duplicate keywords & description

    Hello Keith & Joe,

    Thank you for your response. I will take a look of your vBSEO demo.

    Meanwhile, I need some clarity on what is happening in my site. Please help!

    I am posting a sample URL here:

    Do you wish you weighed... Poll for 3rd Sep 2006 to 9th Sep 2006 - IndusLadies

    I did a viewsource ( (showthread.php) of the above message thread. I see the below tags placed based on what I have setup in "Forumhome" template. :

    <meta name="keywords" content="Do you wish you weighed... Poll for 3rd Sep 2006 to 9th Sep 2006">
    <meta name="description" content="Do you wish you weighed... Poll for 3rd Sep 2006 to 9th Sep 2006">

    There is also an additional duplicate set of meta tags placed for keywords & description as shown below and believe it is because of the default setup in "headinclude" template.

    <meta name="keywords" content="Do you wish you weighed... Poll for 3rd Sep 2006 to 9th Sep 2006, Indian Ladies,Indian Women,Recipes,Cooking,Vegetarian,Non Veg,tandoori,henna,chicken,mehendi,saree,salwar,tu rmeric powder,naan,rotis,paneer,masala,tikka,NRI,H1B,Gree n Card,H4,Visa,PIO" />
    <meta name="description" content="Do you wish you weighed... Poll for 3rd Sep 2006 to 9th Sep 2006 Weekly Quick Poll" />

    Because of this duplicating setup I think Google is not indexing my site properly and my site is not showing up properly in search results.

    How do I handle this?

    google is not a meta engine. it barely even looks at them for anything but a homepage description. In fact, there's very few meta engines left.

    It doesn't appear that you are even using vbseo....
