    Meta Robots tag

I've read somewhere that you need to do nothing and Google, MSN, and Yahoo will crawl your sites. By default, the major search engines will index any page they find.

Would more constant traffic to your site would enable your site to be crawled more frequently resulting in higher search engine rankings.

    Can someone expand on this?

    Also:

How can I see what vBseo is doing for me? I know of another site similiar to mine yet different. But, to make a long story short they seem to be at the top of Google and me second. And, I know that they do not have vBseo.

    Thanks!

There's probably 10000 factors google uses to rank sites.
    content/content readability is #1
    links-in is #2
3-10,000 i have no idea, and no one really does.

As you mention, 'any page they find'.... You need to make sure that you ARE found. That's where our sitemap tool comes into play. <meta /> robots tags are pretty much useless. Default is 'on' (or, crawl and index), and you can turn things off in the robots.txt file. There's really no point in adding the meta robots tags any more unless you want to stop the cache on 1 particular page, or some other extra case.

Traffic doesn't really play into ranking much... I'm sure its part of their algorithm somewhere, but i have sites that get 10 hits a week that out rank major news/etc sites for certain keywords. There are many other ranking features that your competition may have over you, such as domain age (older registered names tend to rank better than names registered this year), links-in, links-out, and of course the actual wording of the content itself.

The way to track your success is to monitor your search and referral traffic via an analytics program, such as google analytics. Look for improvements from install date vs now, and al the rest.

Also, consider opening a critique request in our critique forum. I'm sure there's some tips we can offer you for your site.
