    Meta description of threads : after 3.5.2

    I've just shared a topic on our site's facebook fan page, then I noticed that thread's meta description as the same domain meta tag.

    The previous shared threads show the threads own meta tag before 3.5.2.

    The issue is the same with vbseo, please check this thread meta tag on page source.
    Code:
    <meta property="fb:app_id" content="136202606395047" /> <meta property="og:site_name" content="vBulletin SEO Forums" /> <meta property="og:description" content="Discussion forum on vBulletin Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and vBSEO Plugin." />
    Something goes wrong ?

    Hello ,

    It is not a bug.

    Code:
    <meta property="og:description" content="Discussion forum on vBulletin Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and vBSEO Plugin." />
    This is designed for Facebook and has no impact on SEO . Therefor vBSEO doesn't spend any resources to change that.

    Correct meta description is

    Code:
    <meta name="keywords" content="Meta,description,threads,after,3,5,2,circumstances, find, issue, solution, threads, description, 3.5.2, meta" /> <meta name="description" content="I've just shared a topic on our site's facebook fan page, then I noticed that thread's meta description as the same domain meta tag. The previous shared threads show the" />

    Thank you, Andres (Congrats ), Fabio and Mert.

    I still get a little anxious about that, because Mert says the issue is new designing for facebook but limited forums' threads not at all. Cms articles use their own meta description.

    Anyway, Mert says no impact on SEO, so no anxious anymore

    Thank you, Guys

    the key here is that

    Facebook uses:
    property="og:description"
    vs
    and normal html uses:
    property="description"

    While similar, they are different.

    But, on this thread, why d we get an og:description for the forum?

    Doesn't seem logical really.. I'd expect to see what Mert posted.

    HTML Code:
     <meta property="og:description" content="Discussion forum on vBulletin Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and vBSEO Plugin." />

    I'd like to see the actual description of the thread here. Because, when sharing the story, it uses that description. Instead the other description makes more sense. Who wants to read the general spammy meta description?

    Any way to make this the same as the normal meta description?

    You betcha.

    I know it's not really an SEO enhancement, but it is a community enhancement and since vbSEO is already working magic with the forum page descriptions, adding those same descriptions per page to the Facebook OG description would be a huge help.
