    Long URL Bad?

I've set up my forums to include the forum_path and it generates very long URLs (75 - 100 characters including http://www. )
The reason is because I like the structure better and it helps me navigate were I am on my forum (sort of like breadcrumbs).

I was wondering if this has any major drawback to this.

The example you posted did not seem to work. Can you post it again in case you have discovered a bug.

    Joe,

I'm sorry I don't have a problem. I just wanted to know if having long URLs can have a negative effect on SEO.

You URLs are fine. I visited your forums and everything is good.

You are using /f1/ format as well, which keeps them shorter.

While the URLs will be occasionally longer, if the thread title is unusually long, vBSEO stopwords removal will help keep them shorter. The URLs are still standard, so there should be no issue at all.

this can have a negative effect?

My other site (not in my signature) has URLs that are about just as long.

I've checked online about long URLs and can't seem to find a definite answer.

    thank viperxx

well, there is a site which is promoting gambling like I do
casinomeister.com - they run a vbulletin forum too
and they have the urls set same, forum is included,
and that site is doing very well, but they are also already long online.

Maybe the VB Seo Staff has more info for us
    what is better to have?
    shorter urls better?

Also I have my forum now so since last May
if i change now, I will have a few weeks a major traffic decrease
since all needs to be reindexed .

Im pretty interested in this question myself. Not only do i have forum and thread names, but near each I have their ids aswell, so it looks like:

    http://www.myforum/generalchat-f1/of..._threads-2476/

Is this a negative for search engines, or anywhere else?

Yes, it is very easy to navigate the site this way, but i can image if someone posted a link somewhere to one of the thread. It would be huge and scary(although very informative).

    Anymore feedback on this topic?
