    Improve performance of forum?

This is not really a SEO question but more at the hardware/config part.

My website has poor performance once in a while, server overloading and pages freezing.

My current setup is having both primary and secondary DNS on the same server as apache etc. During peak times and especially when background jobs starting it gets overloaded.

What do you recommend to improve the performance?

I am not an expert but my own thoughts is I have two options...

    1. Upgrade to a dual opteron server
    2. Running on two servers, move database and primary DNS to it's own server and also mirror the website on the new server (for private or VIP members)

For the time being, I have turned off Webalizer and Analog in cPanel.

    So what is your thoughts?

    Hi Nicke,

i truely have to fight with some similar problems. I'M running my vb on a dual xeon machine with 2GB of RAM.

I've found a really big improvement of performace with eaccelerator installed. it's an accelerator for php developed out of TurckMM Cache. As it's free you might want to give it a try: http://eaccelerator.net/

works perfectly together with Zend Optimizer, so no problems with that.

    Best,
    Frank

I would use APC 3.0.8 instead
