I have messed up, advice needed

I know a few people will be shaking their heads at a thread like this coming from me

Story so far, I messed up big time.
I completely altered the way the forum URLs were written.
Had a minor problem or three with the site map
And dropped down from over 10k threads indexed to 618. I have more than 60k threads on the forums.
Plus altered the main skin being used
New members have ceased, not even getting the spammers trying to join which were twenty or thirty a day
Last week, I also had a couple of days where google hits were over 20,000 hits a day, I'm back down to 1 or 2k hits a day

Not good

Questions
What can I turn on and off to increase indexing on the main parts of the forums. Essential, non essential type stuff.
I should imagine tags and member profiles should be the first to be turned off, that way it more emphasis on the content, IE threads
I don't have the archive enabled to stop repeat content.

What I need is an idea of how to get the maximum amount of content re indexed

And finally
How often do the number of pages shown indexed by google on their web master tools change, once a month, week etc

Focus on the showthread pages.

Google updates much more frequently. We have some content that gets indexed within hours.

It sounds silly, but it could also be that law written by a guy called Sod.
A culmination of things going on at the same time and the culprit being over looked.

The increase in google searches could be put down to adverts being placed in the new skins. Does the site map page differentiate between normal google and google adsence in its search engine logs.
If not it would explain the jump to 20k hits a day from google

The other thing that I am hoping is the culprit after reading a post or two on here yesterday is a link in the footer to the skin designers on line shop

Whether or not that could have been classed or mistaken as a paid link in the footer. I know people have mentioned being penalised for this. I have altered that link to see what happens

Google would show in the Google section, and Google adsense would show in the Others. If you look in the sitemap stats, then view details, Adsense would be classed as Mediapartners.

Cheers for that gedsta. Funny thing is, my earnings are still about the same.

I have added a robots.txt today to try and get the threads searched more. But there is still no increase in the indexed URLs showing on the web masters tools.

Theres not much left that I can fiddle with and break any more
