    How to succeed in MSN?

Well, my forums are rocking with google, doing ok with yahoo, but doing really poorly with MSN.

I even tried adding my site to their directory (costing $70 a year), but nothing I do helps me get more pages/more referrals from MSN. Being that MSN should be the biggest search engine for new computer users (people who haven't changed their default search/haven't found google yet), I feel like I'm missing out on a bunch of traffic.

Has anyone been successful with MSN? What about other search engines?

placing a link in MSN directory does not means better visibility in there search engine

No, but like how google treats sites that are in dmoz, someone suggested that MSN would favour sites that are in the MSN directory

I've found MSN to be the easiest SE to get good rankings in.

Noodles, post your site in the Critique section, and I will offer some sugggestions.

I have a completely opposite remark for this, sites are doing well in yahoo and google except MSN..

I agree, MSN is a desperate whore and will take on everything submitted to it.

I have found, too, that if you keeps ads off your sites (adsense) until you are listed, MSN and Yahoo are friendlier.

I myself outrank MS for one of the most pupular search terms which lead microsoft revenues and grow popular.. on msn search engine..
but however, incoming traffic from MSN does not even counts to 2% of traffic from yahoo or google..

MSN tends to get a lot more results compared to yahoo and google.

Weird, I didn't think of that. Anyone else experience this ? That would explain why MSN hates my site.

(sry, I know this is an old thread)

I've never had good luck with MSN indexing my sites, with or without ads, with or without vbSEO. :(

I got rankings high in msn faster then the others. I haven't seen many issues with it at all.

It has taken about 2 months for MSN to start spidering and indexing my site. But, I went from 2 referrals last month to about 1000 this month from MSN, and it grabbed about 2 gb worth of pages this month. I think I am finally cracking MSN!
