how to properly switch from forum in root to /forum

Right now my forum index is in the root of my domain as forums.php and my vba homepage is index.php

I hear and see that most prefer to have the forum index show as domain.com/forum and the homepage as domain.com

thing is, i have quite a few links out there and such so i dont want to hurt my seo, is there a way to make this happen and not drastically affect my on and off site seo?

Hello Chase ,

We strongly advise not to change forum structure after vBSEO installation.

It all depeneds on your site content. I perfer not to use forum folder for various reasons. But in your condition as your index page is vba i wouldn't change the structure.
