Host gator just suspened my account

I just sent out a mass email to wish everyone a happy holiday and 10 minutes later get an email that my account was just suspened. They don't even warn people?

I have no clue how to get into Cpanel to get my info and mysql database even if i had another host to move to right now. I will not host with hostgator.

Anyone have some idea's on a host? Right now i prefer shared till i out-grow it. This sucks, my directory and forum lost for time being. Waiting on hostgator support to contact me back. I hope i don't loose everything cause this will give me bad rep and prolly owe money some people

Good luck, getting your site back online, once you get it back up look into switching over to another shared host such as ASmallOrange or something

They suspended your account because of the mass email? Did they detect it as spam or was there some other reason that they would've suspended the account?

This may sound harsh but IMO they did the right thing.

1. Sending too many emails from a shared host will dramatically slow down that server and every site hosted on that server will suffer.

2. email providers ( yahoo/msn ) might identify that server as a spam source and every email originating from that server thereafter will be marked as spam.

I would of been pretty pissed if my shared host cut my site off after a email blast

I'm not on a shared plan anymore, but when I was, I never had anything like this happen.

good luck getting your site back up.

cheers

Ok, my account is enabled again after talking with support for awhile. Being it's the holidays response time was slower then ever. When i sent out a mass email wishing merry xmas, it sent out more then 200 within the hour. That was my downfall. I wasn't thinking, it's the holidays and i was planning on taking a few days off the web altogether. That never happened since i was waiting for email's.

I already did the survey here at VBSEO and hope to see something someday so my hosting moving can end for ever. Happy holidays.

O yea, i'm going to just post in a announcement thread with updates and no longer send email's to be on the safe side. My sites mean a lot to me and lost a lot being down. Now to catch up on some threads here at VBSEO in next few days. lol

Support people was nice being the time it year this is and everything. Someday i'll leave them for good with a host that's better for my forum and other site. At least the bot's have come back.

Merry Xmas and time for me to cook breakfast.

If it was 20,000 in an hour I can undersand, but 200 is just absurdly low for them to react that way. Just chalk it up as lessons learned ... 1) always maintain backup copies of your site and 2) start shopping for a new host.

Glad you got it all back up and running, hope the rest of your new year trends better!

I am not ready for dedicated server just yet but when i am, i should be able to send out a mass email and not get hurt for it. For now, i am posting in announcement board.

For now, i will wait and see what VBSEO will do after there hosting survey in the future. I'd rather go with a host that fully supports VBSEO and Vbulletin software.
