H1 title hidden in a vb style?

    Hi Guys,

I have been talking to a company that offer SEO advice and they have advised me to include a H1 title on the main homepage that should include the keywords that I want to be ranked on.

My problem is that I use a custom style on the site which I think would look horrible with a displayed h1 title.

Is there a way of making it invisible to normal users but google obviously picks it up? or is there anyway of doing it?

Not sure if I'm allowed to put my url in a post but please remove if not.

My Spain - British Expat In Spain Forum so it gives you an idea of the layout of the page.

Any help or guidence is always appreciated, thanks!

I have read that using VBSEO's Relevant Replacements is the best way of doing H1 in SEO terms? is there any truth to that and if so can you point me in the direction of people who have done it so I can read up on how it is done?

Unfortunately as you're well aware search doesn't work for 2 characters so can't do a search for H1

How vBSEO is setup on the vBSEO Style 1.0, we have the SEO in the logo set to our H1. Then on the thread/forum pages, we use our Relevant Replacement (RR) feature to add the H2 and descriptions right below it. You can see our RRs here: Relevant Replacements used by vbseo.com?

    Hi Zelnik,

While this is technically possible, no Whitehat (read: 'ethical') SEO professional would advise you to do this, as it would be seen by the Search Engines as either Cloaking (presenting different content to Search Engines than to regular visitors), or Keyword Stuffing, or both.

Yeah they said it should be on display but my problem is with the custom style I have it seriously limits what can or can't do.

I know it's a bit rude to ask but as I am at a loss and now you have mentioned Cloaking and Keyword stuffing I do not really want to be sneaky and hide it. Could you take a look at my main homepage and see if you can see a place where something could potentially be placed?

    Hi Guys.

I'm still trying to sort this out.

I'm a bit confused with the way to go as one VBSEO staff member shows me how to do it in hidden form and another days it's probably a no no in terms of doing it that way.

I do not want to hurt my current Google ranking so what's the deal here? Yes or no to the hidden method in the url Michael pasted?

    Darren,

Michael simply showed you how to use the Relevant Replacement feature.

I told you that cloaking/keyword stuffing was a terribly bad idea.

The two statements don't exclude each other... use the RRs but don't use them in a way that will result in the SEs penalizing you.

I was actually talking about when Michael showed me how to do it by using "Method 02 - Using a CSS Trick to Add a H1 Tag to Your Logo"

But thanks anyway I suppose I will stay clear of the CSS trick and try and implement a H1 into the style I'm using.

    Thanks for your reply.
