    not much.. a couple bucks.
it's more about saving load than anything else, and i also put up a notice that 'members get better a search' to encourage sign-ups.

    as for your luck...
well, thats a direct relation to vbseo you're new to it, so you're probably not indexed very well.

the results when searched on my site are very good.... possibly even better than the built in search engine (at least as far as basic keyword matching goes)

I use Google Search as main search on one of my sites as it brings more accurate results than vBulletin search engine. As Brian said , it brings some money ( very small ) and save my server load.

My site is indexed by google very quickly, usually a few hours.
Maybe I'll try google search and encourage guests to register.

@Notorious: How do you manage to send Newbies to Google?
I'll test a modification of this mod and I'll create new search page to test.

    * The default Registered Members Usergroup ( ID: 2 ) dont have searching permission ( we call it newbie group )

    * Another custom usergroup ( 'Members' ) can use vbulletin's search.

    * Members with 10+ posts are promoted to Member group.
