Google Analytics and vBSEO setting question?

Is it better to enable analytics in the SEO panel using the UA-XXXXXXX number or is it better to embed the code supplied by analytics? Or if you do enable analytics in vBSEO does the code (script) still need to be embedded?

Also, what exactly does this setting mean? "Enter format for Google Analytics External Links Tracking"

Is it better to leave these enabled or disabled?

Add Google Analytics "Tracking External Link Clicks" Code?
Enable Google Analytics Funnel for Member Registrations?
Thanks for any replies.

vbseo simply makes it easy to add the analytics code without a template edit.

if you've edited your template already leave it blank, or pull it back and add it. it's your choice, but keeping it in vbseo makes it easy.

adding the UA--- code is all you need to do.

as for external links, that's for tracking external links and sets up the <a href = "" onclick="/outgoing/whatever/" style link for analytics to track exit pages.

it's up to you if you want them enabled or not... there's no harm in having them on. just gives you more stats in analytics to look at
