Forum Migration

I run a 3.7 vB classifieds forum for a local regional area regarding a specific product. Traffic is good, however because the site is targeted to an audience which only comes from a particular state (in the USA), it is limited.

I am planning on opening up a new classifieds forum for the same product, but this forum will encompass all regional areas. This forum will run on VB4 with a new URL, completely new categories and etc..

What is the best way to fullfil this type of migration/relocation? I want to redirect traffic from the old forum to the new forum, but every link will be different and etc... I do however plan to copy and transfer the User table from the MySQL database, so my current member base won't need to reregister and I'll be ready to take on new members from new regional areas.

Any thoughts, comments, or guides will be much appreciated relating this topic.

Just to make sure before i fully respond , do you plan on keeping old forum in place ?

No, I do not.

Then you don't have to import anything. Just modify your current forum , add new international forums , change domain name and you'll be good to go.
