I had a similar problem. Eaccelerator did not work with my system. I mean vbseo did not see it. I tried to compile latest versions. I know it works with early versions. But then i maybe conflict with your present system. I had to revert xcache 1.2.1 because of my system. I think xcache is the best cacher.

I had installed XCache, but in stats admin I noticed not much caching, even after enabling it in vbseo.

there isn't much to cache in the first place. Here's a snippit sample var dump from one of my smaller forums.

    Code:
a:2:{s:15:"forum_is_public";a:4:{i:44;b:1;i:42;b:1;i:48;b:1;i:62;b:1;}s:5:"forum";a:25:{i:41;a:28:{s:7:"forumid";i:41;s:7:"styleid";i:0;s:5:"title";s:13:"Introductions";s:11:"title_clean";s:13:"Introductions";s:11:"description";s:19:"Introduce yourself!";s:17:"description_clean";s:19:"Introduce yourself!";s:7:"options";i:97987;s:12:"displayorder";i:1;s:9:"daysprune";i:-1;s:12:"newpostemail";s:0:"";s:14:"newthreademail";s:0:"";s:8:"parentid";i:-1;s:10:"parentlist";s:2:"41";s:8:"password";s:0:"";s:4:"link";s:0:"";s:9:"childlist";s:8:"41,42,-1";s:10:"lastpostid";i:0;s:11:"showprivate";i:0;s:16:"defaultsortfield";s:8:"lastpost";s:16:"defaultsortorder";s:4:"desc";s:23:"vbseo_moderatepingbacks";i:0;s:24:"vbseo_moderatetrackbacks";i:0;s:22:"vbseo_moderaterefbacks";i:1;s:11:"imageprefix";s:0:"";s:7:"podcast";i:0;s:5:"depth";i:0;s:11:"permissions";a:9:{i:4;i:655375;i:6;i:16777215;i:8;i:0;i:9;i:12317183;i:7;i:12317183;i:2;i:12317183;i:5;i:16777215;i:1;i:655375;i:3;i:655375;}s:4:"path";s:13:"introductions";}i:42;a:28:{s:7:"forumid";i:42;s:7:"styleid";i:0;s:5:"title";s:18:"Introduce Yourself";s:11:"title_clean";s:18:"Introduce Yourself";s:11:"description";s:45:"Say hi to the members and introduce yourself!";s:17:"description_clean";s:45:"Say hi to the members and introduce yourself!";s:7:"options";i:97991;s:12:"displayorder";i:1;s:9:"daysprune";i:-1;s:12:"newpostemail";s:0:"";s:14:"newthreademail";s:0:"";s:8:"parentid";i:41;s:10:"parentlist";s:5:"42,41";s:8:"password";s:0:"";s:4:"link";s:0:"";s:9:"childlist";s:5:"42,-1";s:10:"lastpostid";i:5846;s:11:"showprivate";i:0;s:16:"defaultsortfield";s:8:"lastpost";s:16:"defaultsortorder";s:4:"desc";s:23:"vbseo_moderatepingbacks";i:0;s:24:"vbseo_moderatetrackbacks";i:0;s:22:"vbseo_moderaterefbacks";i:1;s:11:"imageprefix";s:0:"";s:7:"podcast";i:0;s:5:"depth";i:1;s:11:"permissions";a:9:{i:4;i:655375;i:6;i:16777215;i:8;i:0;i:9;i:12317183;i:7;i:12317183;i:2;i:12317183;i:5;i:16777215;i:1;i:655375;i:3;i:655375;}s:4:"path";s:32:"introductions/introduce-yourself";}i:47;a:28:

    etc....
It's serialized data of the forum info and basic settings.

The real advantage from xcache/etc is not from the var data, but from the ability to cache compiled php.

In order to use eAccelerator, you need to enable the get and push functions (disabled by default in eAccelerator for security reasons- they dont need to be on if you aren't using them)

Since eAcclerator has Security issue with Get and Put methods I rather remove eAcclerator, and Install APC, so that it will work with Joomla and other custom script.

It's not a security issue... it's just 'hardended' from the 'factory'. Only --enable it if you need it and the default install does not enable it. It's no less secure than any other apc/xcache/etc and i see no reason why joomla won't work with it, or any other cache for that matter.

I had problem with EAccelerator with my php 5.3.3 on the centos 5.4 somehow i could not managed to install. I used standart install procedure from many different sources. (It's not easy apache install) Vbseo did not see it. But it worked fine for the rest processes.

It may work with your system. You can follow eAccelerator as a source. Because anytime EA can be updated.

I finally made my mind and decided to remove eAcclerator and install xCache.

I have the following settings is this alright?
Please check attached file for settings.

I have enabled xcache for my forum from vbseo and also from vb config.
Is it alright to enable it in both places? I have different cache prefix in both vbseo and vb config??

Thanks, I see an issue, only the xcache admin pages are caching and it is not caching anything other files? What could be the problem?

    Did you enable it?

    ~/src/xcache-build $ ../xcache/configure --enable-xcache --enable-xcache-coverager
