Linkbacks are not exactly the same in this case, check the referring URLs from external sites - they are different (showthread.php?t=X vs. showthread.php?p=Y). This is actually an example of "multiple URLs per resource" issue that is eliminated on vBSEO-enabled forums: Pin the Tail on the SEO Donkey (with Link Consensus)!

IMO, don't approve any of them. If you approve 1 out of a 1000, you got a lucky resource linking to you.
I approve both, I can still give a nofollow if I believe a site is exploiting linkbacks for his own benefit.

Linkbacks are free advertising and exposure for other sites.
I ONLY approve linkbacks that come in from serious websites-- like wikipedia, yahoo news, etc
