    Domain and Platform change, shold I?

    Hi guys,
    I really need some tips here, if I should I do a domain name change or not

    Old Site : versusxxx.info (PR 3, well ranked with specific keywords, Blogger Platform, .INFO global domain)
    New Site : xxxfree.com.br (PR 0, Vbulletin Platform, .BR my country domain, Brazil)

    Here is my concern: I do need to change the platform, but I really donīt know if I must change the domain.

    Some reasons for it:

    - The new domain have a good branding, the old not
    - The new domain have .BR termination, I think that google give more authority to same country domain
    - The old domain have a lot of secondary keywords that brings a lot of trafic to the site, but the major one ( the xxx ) itīs in 27o position

    So, I prefer to put the new domain to work, copy all content of Blogger to Vbulletin and do an 301 in the old, but Iīam really affraid to lose the very strong traffic that organically income after the redirect especially because all the link structures will be different.

    Whats are my best chances to do a good job indexing the xxx major keyord and donīt losing my good trafic?

    Thanks to all!

    I was wondering now if my best choice isnīt do the platform change first, wait the google reindex all the link structure change, and after that do the 301 redirect on the old site

    Brain, you helpfull as always. BTW, I did fix the blog issue without support.

    This guy want to switch from Blogger to vBulletin. He is your potential client.

    nosph, I was once in same situation. I did the change and it worked without problems and traffic fall.

    You should:
    • make right 301-redirects, with .htaccess or in some other ways;
    • set in Google Webmaster Tools change of domain name;
    • add new host to robots.txt;
    • buy and use vBSEO for vBulletin and quick you will receive even more traffic and make happy Brain;
    • check that redirects works right;
    Items 301-redirects and robots.txt are most important.

    Also your country targeting will be automaticly switched to Brasil with that domain name. And don't sell this domain. But if you will going to sell or cancel this domain someday, before this you should turn off redirects on it and check if it will have any influence on traffic on your new domain.
