The Digg Effect Just Cost Blu-Ray's Forum Backlinks

Check out this digg story: Digg - Guys PS3 dies! His explanation....

Then look at the url that is used to link to the story

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?p=123215

So for all those people (one in particular comes to my mind) that want to believe those links can't harm you and that people "don't use them" well there is your proof. Instead of getting linkbacks to the proper thread url they are getting them to that url.

It's all in the small details ladies and gents. If you want to run your forum correctly and optimize correctly VBSEO can help you do that. If you want to continue running a less than optimal vBulletin installation then don't change anything.

It's the little details that the other guys are doing that make the difference in the long run.

Food for thought.

"That's based on a very simpleminded version of what SEO is all about, BSG."

His Digg-ed page is using a non-standard, duplicate, URL. It should, for better SEO, be pointing to the main thread display page URL.

With a non-vBSEO-ed forum, this happens alot because usings just post links to whichever page they're viewing regardless of the URL (they don't care, and what would they).

So this results in a major loss in link consensus, causing significant negative impact to SEO.

With vBSEO, this cannot happen, because we achieve full link consensus with 1-URL-per-resource. For more info, please check out:
