Post Custom navigation menu vs Forum Index Link

I'm creating a new vbulletin powered website with a custom home page.
I've been reading a lot about better design practices for SEO and I'd like you guys to let me know which is the best way for spiders to read my content between these 2 alternatives?:

    1. Add a custom navigation menu in the NAVBAR template, with a link to each one of my forums.
This way every single forum will be linked from every page.

    2. Leave just a link to my Forums Index and Site Map and let the spiders crawl from there.

Adding each forum to a drop down would most likely be counter-productive for users (simply too many options). A link to forumhome is all you need. spiders will find all your subforums.
