    Angry Crawlability.com without rel=nofollow value

    Hi,

I've seen on my forum footer that the Crawlability.com link with text "vbseo 3.3.0" has not the rel="nofollow" attribute on it, although I've setted up on the vbseocp.php to put the rel=nofollow on all external domain names.

Any idea why is this happening?

Well the link was placed there because that is our copyright. As for it not being nofollowed, it might be stated that it must be followable somewhere. I will flag this for someone with more information.

    Hello,

rel=nofollow is added to the link in vBSEO copyright on all pages except for homepage.
You can also select a non-linked copyright option manually in config_vbseo.php file.

Sorry, but as far as I understand, I bought vbseo to help me to improve my rankings in serp's, and your decision of placing a link to your website without the rel=nofollow is harming my website's ranking.

Also, I do not understand why you didnt advice of this, moreover, why we should manually touch a php file in order to not link to you.

vbSEO is not helping us with SEO. Paradoxical, isn't it?

This was a decision made a long time ago (in the early days) and should probably be revised.

Two things: at the time, it was divulged/discussed with the community, and an unlinked option was also made available.

That said, you are right, if it's rel=nofollowed, it should be sitewide or none at all. I've posted an update request to get this straightened.

On another note, I can assure you Google is much smarter today than it was in 2006, and techniques such as PR sculpting, linked copyright URLs, etc. have no bearing on rankings.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, it will be rectified.

There are MANY options that are not available within the user interface, but are through a direct file edit.

This was done for several reasons, but mainly, to keep novice users from possibly selecting a bad option that would bring their site down, etc.

I'm sure that they get much smarters than past days, but I'm also sure that having the link on home without the rel=nofollow the only one that gets a positive rank is crawlability.com and nobody cans confirm that my site's is not being harmed

There is also the option to remove the copyright notice for an additional fee - that's what I have done
