"It's better to be first than it is to be better". Be fast, be first.
Cool site that should remember us of this example Joe...

    www.clasificadosonline.com

That's the name that people go into people's mind immediatly open saying "where to sell my home here at P.R"

Another excellent example is Apple IPOD...baby boomers or even ourselves don't say..."I want an MP3"...no matter what we end up buying must of us say... "I want an IPOD"..."Let's go buy an IPOD"

    Agree...

That occurs when a object is unique and so new that the brand name becomes the same as the general description of the object: a coke, a Kleenix, an IPOD, Ajax, Scotch tape, etc.

In terms of timing, there have been case studies demonstrating that someone who gets to the market first with a new product/service may (in many cases) be able to maintain their market share quite well even against competitors coming in later with better products.

Amazon Kindle might be a good example of a product that is still in this stage. Will it take off? Will people refer to all future "handheld wireless book readers" as Kindles, even if supplied by Sony, Samsung, Dell, Sprint, etc?

I don't hear much buzz about it yet. Sadly, I guess there are more people interesting in ringtones for their cell phones than being able to access a world of published material in seconds.
