    Considering starting a new community...

I have a question for some of the SEO and community experts around here. I'm considering starting a new community and I want to know if this will have an effect on an existing community of mine.

To be more specific (I'm not using my actual URL):

Say I own: HouseCommunity.com, which is a general discussion community about housing, leasing and mortgages. What would be the effect on HouseCommunity.com, if I start another community under the domain: HouseCommunity.net, except this community is about the television show, House. Very similar domains, entirely different topics.

Are there any negatives to this?
Also, will the new community harm the value of the existing active community?

    Thanks guys!

Host them on different IP's and there will be 0 integration between the 2 at any level.

    Excellent idea.

Edit: Any additional feedback or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you will face any problem as there are many similar named domains operating. As long as they are running on different IP's they will not pose any problem.

The more content offer you have more change from search engine results. and each domain has an idendity and history. If you would be be tired to manage two forums at once then go for it. I am sure your first forum experience made you good experiences. So you can reflect it them at another one. You should host them at different class C ips so that when you link they can pass pagerank to each others.
