considering moving to a VPS, issues to be aware of?

we're outgrowing our shared hosting and are considering moving up to a VPS. the move would be with the same company so they will help with the transition more than they would otherwise. this is totally new to me, so pardon the noob questions...

is there anything we need to be aware of with vbseo in terms of making this move?

does moving to a different server have any negative effect on seo?

is 512mb ram adequate for a dedicated vps?

any specific questions I should ask that hosting companies like to hide or other tips regarding moving to a different server?

thank you for your help & advice!

Servers are transparent in terms of seo.
512 may be enough for your site... it really depends on how busy it is. Just keep in mind, you probably have more ram in your personal computer.

thanks Brian. the more I have been researching this today, the more I am finding people saying that 512 was inadequate and that 768 or 1024 was a considerable improvement and/or solved many issues.
