Red face Competing for major keywords on Google

    Hi all,

I've been running vBSEO about 5 months now, and my forum is doing well on specific search terms, but I now want to target a major keyword!

My site is Chess Forums | Free Online Chess Game & Forum
and we currently rank 1/2 for 'chess forums' and 5/6 for 'chess forum'

Which is good, but the search volumes for these two phrases is pretty low, I would now like to target 'chess' which gets over 150,000 searches a month!

Is there any advice or suggestions anyone can offer in undertaking this task!?

    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

That is going to be tough to do. Building linkbacks with the keyword "chess" helps, of course. Other than that, build a large amount of quality content about chess and hope for the best.

Thanks for your reply Mike, do you think its worth giving it a try? or is it going to be something thats too competitive?

Does anyone own or know of any forums with vBSEO that are competing in the top 10 of any major keywords?

    Thanks,
    Greg
