    CMS Arrticles

Hi there, after doing some searching to see how some of the articles I have written are ranking in Google I was disappointed to see that they where not showing up.

I can do a google search for the exact title of my article. For example I search

"Blackmagic Intensity Pro Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Video Game Broadcasting Guide VidBlaster Solution (Component Video) Windows"

which is the title of the following article

GameStreams.com Forums - Blackmagic Intensity Pro Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Video Game Broadcasting Guide VidBlaster Solution (Component Video) Windows

What comes up in google is a generic listing of Latest Articles which is my home page (where the article is located)

    GameStreams.com Forums - Latest Articles

1 Jul 2010 ... Blackmagic Intensity Pro Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Video Game Broadcasting Guide VidBlaster Solution (Component Video) Windows. Categories: ...
    www.gamestreams.com/ - Cached

What do I need to do to have my articles come up in google and other search engines?

So far I left the META description for my articles to the default "article" and left the META keywords blank. I was unsure how long the description should be and how many keywords as well as which format to put them in. Hope someone can shed some light on that as well.

You should manually fill in the descrptions and keywords for sure. Use a CONCISE, accurate description, and ~5 keywords the DIRECTLY reflect the ARTICLE (not the website or general theme).

Links in TO the article will also help it rank better. The title is pretty unique and it borders on being useless because it has so many keywords in it. The trick is to be concise and accurate, not wordy and spammy.

Is there a way to remove my site name GameStreams.com Forums from my CMS Articles title? That would be beneficial, correct?

Also another question about META keywords. Is it OK to have mutiple keywords per comma

    eg.
Video Game, Broadcasting, Guide, Blackmagic Intensity Pro, Setup

Also, so you think my articles are not being cached by search engines because my titles are too keyword rich and are probobly being flagged as SPAM?

you can alter the cms_page template for that. It's not cut and dry, as it effects ALL cms pages. see: How to remove forum title from CMS articles? for a discussion on this topic.

Yes, keywords can be phrases. I would avoid terms like 'setup' and 'guide' as its NOT a keyword of the item, it's a generic term that will just get lost in clutter of EVERYTHING else that can be setup or guided in life. Even video game i wouldn't consider a keyword in this case.

As you CAN find yourself in the index, your articles ARE being indexed. It's just likely not being found using more 'human' search terms because other sites are completely out ranking you, and you're on page 23423423 that no one cares about. I'm sure you're not being flagged as spam, but the bots aren't able to correctly associate your article in a good indexing location because it appears to be broad. Google almost always (except for when searching for things by say, name brand) list the most direct seach result for the most specific topic it can find based on the search terms.
I type in football in the us, i get nfl.com
i type in football in the uk, i better get some soccer results.
