    Calendar feature, is it needed

Is the calendar feature a waste of space?

We all know when you do an upgrade, if the new add on link dont appear in the nav bar, you will find details such as "search navbar for blah blah calendar".

Ita bit like when you give someone directions, go into village and look for town square or big clock.

Is it another feature that long been out grown and would there be any seo advantages by dropping the link from the navbar.

From my own limited seo understanding, one less link in the header or navbar cant be a bad thing if its not used other than to display the latest members birthdays

I personally have not seen a vbulletin website in quite a while that uses the calendar at all.

Michael you slacking with your response times

I did the normal search on here to see if there were any pro's or con's to having the feature in place.

Since its in such an important place as such, being in the first links the search engines see, would there be any advantages to dropping it?

Or just wrapping some code round so only members can see and use it?

Im just re evaluating my plans for my forum layout. Dropping unwanted or unused pointless bulk

Personally, I would just put it for members only unless you have any other specific needs to have it available for the public.

With the current structure calendar is completely useless and it is impossible to completely disable it without file edits. However there should be a on off option for calendar.

I have couple modifications on my calendar which allows event attendance for site events. Thats the only time i use it.

Members may not use it, but is there a search engine benefit to removing it for guests?

To that end, would there be any seo benefit to removing FAQ for guests? Or do you guys think human guests actually ever consult the FAQ?

One less link at the top of the page cant be a bad thing for the search engines.

Depending on what age group your aiming at, can determine if the faq is good or bad. Silver surfers need clear instructions on how to use a forum, young kids can normally run circles round most forum admin.

As we run a clan related forum it's one of the most visited features we use at our boards.
It is however useless as is.
Some kind of event » post system is simply needed to have things working well. (having high hopes at this guy vBulletin.org Forum - View Single Post - vB Event Forums as all other products are way too recourse heavy)

Also, if vB may become some kind of sn system it perhaps could be used as a profile update system aka. facebook or psicofxp.
