Best Url ?

I am going to install another custom forum on one of my web pages and would like to seek wisdom.

I currently have a forum HorseChitChat :: Horse Forums :: Equine Health Issues :: Horse Advice and Chat :: Horse Shows & Events - Powered by vBulletin
and it is growing.. slowly but growing. I bought VBseo and just had it installed.

My question is should I have just a long url like golfforum.com or should I save the money and go with golf.com/forum ? I know that url is gone but just as an example.

Please advise you braniacs if you have time. Thanks again, and hope VBSEO starts driving more members to my equine forum. I am on second page of google but looking to be #1.

Does anyone not know if this matter? I have heard that long url's are better. But wasn't sure.

If you are the owner of golf.com or you an purchase that for a decent amount i advise you to go with golf.com/forum .
