vBSEO add additional load for server, but it not critical. And vBSEO do a lot work instead of you, leaving you more time to work on forum, not on SEO improving of it.
Installing of it not a problem, if you can't do it by yourself find somebody who will.

Google and yahoo crawl your site free of charge, you do not pay to be indexed. It happens on its own (faster with your link on similar themed index sites).

We would need to see the error that it is throwing out in order to help you fix the sitemap generator.

They will find you anyway, but vBSEO helps your forum to get higher ranks and positions in google and yahoo.

You do not need to pay Google or Yahoo any service fees to be included. However, Yahoo does have a paid directory if you choose to be listed there.

vBulletin can be crawled by the search engines. vBSEO is designed to greatly improve that process.

If you are a vBulletin admin, and are serious about your success, I strongly recommend that you install both vBSEO and our sitemap to help gain more search traffic.

Note: Directories differ from organic search indices, because directories are manually reviewed and created. Search indices are created in an automated manner by search engine bots that crawl, index, and rank your site based on numerous built in algorithmic factors.

A *default* installation will help you greatly. This means you will benefit by installing, without changing anything in the control panel.

From that point, we can help answer your questions about each feature independently as they arise.

I believe Servage is compatible. If we discover that it is not, for any reason, you are eligible for an immediate refund.

Yes - your default control panel settings in vBSEO are all you need to get started with vBSEO, optimizing your forum to be search engine friendly, and helping to get you new visitors from Google and other search engines.
