Anyone else been affected by the panda update on the 29th of November?

Panda hasn't affected me until now but 2 of my sites both got hammered on the 29th of November, This is based on a sitemap of 97,598 urls of which 95,728are indexed (all are still indexed just have been pushed back from first page to around the 8th page) my other site is tiny and i don't use vbseo or any other kind of seo techniques on it, it gets only gets about 6000 hits from google a month but that got exactly the same decline at the same date....

I'm seeing post pop up all over the net from other people that this has happened to as well on exactly the same date, the most annoying thing is that 3 of the sites in the top 10 for my keywords have content copied and pasted from my site (it even has my user name on the page in their sites) they've just right clicked and copied the html code ,panda was supposed to be aimed at sites scraping content from others but it does not seem to be detecting the original source correctly

Panda was rolled out months ago.

What you are seeing now is likely the 'freshness' stuff they added in recently.

I must also say, your page load speed time is horrible.

Your page set 485 cookies on the home page.
    Absurd.

    And then a dead popup.
and then a 2nd pop up when that one is closed taking on full screen...
and then that opened a pop up too.

Now, the page is still loading, over 7MB and over a min later...

i got bored and just gave up waiting for it.

If i was google, i'd can you from results too.

Clean up the site and you'll likely see things come back. It's a mess and you're going to pay for that mess from now on.

I did actually turn all adds off and it didn't make a difference, and like i said i have another site where exactly the same thing happened, and that site has no adds at all, no banners no pop ups nothing, so i thought what the hell i'll put more ads on for unregistered members to cover the lost revenue of the drop as i need to at least be covering the server costs

and i know the panda was rolled out months ago but it didn't affect me until the 29th, if the site where i had no ads was doing any better i'd take all the ads off but it does not improve anything for me

Things don't just happen over night. Did you leave the ads off for a week?

not quite i left them off for 5 days, i didn't have that many before i had 2 230x300 adds in the nav bar and 1 in the first post of each thread and also used infor links, but surely google would not penalie their own adsense ads? do you think 3 on a page is to much?

I'll turn them all of again based on your suggestions for a week or 2 to see if i see a difference, and come back to you for advice (not blame) if things don't change

without the adds my home page loads at 1.35s

It's the popups and inter-sitals that are the issue here. The in-page ads/banners are fine.

Thats all i had before the drop on the 29th i removed them all until today then got frustrated and put even more one,

i'll leave them all off just to see if theirs a big difference in traffic it it does recover as last time i checked my home page took about 5 seconds to load but with everything off it just took 1.35s in the last test

    Same happened to me.

Hello Kiss Of Death, how are you. I found this thread looking in google for panda updates and the date november 29th, and I found this thread.

Exactly the same happened to one of my main blogs, and it really hurts. After inspecting the traffic before nov 29 and after nov 29, I found that the decline is 100% in google only. Bing and yahoo and all the other sources stay exactly the same.

So the big question is, what kind of update happened on november 29th?

I must say that last year I noticed something similar that lasted for 2 or 3 weeks, and then the traffic went up again. Any ideas of what change they did? Is it temporary?

    I attach an image below.

I have no idea, what they changed but I've found a lot of other people all over the internet with the same issue, a few of them have their traffic return after a week, one just said he removed all the affiliate links of his home page and that sorted it for him, 3 people have said that they increased & reordered the number of words on their home page, a couple of people said they added new content, 1 guy said that he just built a few more backlinks, my traffic remains the same though i've removed all the adds and increased the site speed drastically , i can't really increase the word count or content on pages as it's a bulletin forum where 100% of the content is generated from members making posts

I removed analytics completely form my site, and Im using statcounter now.

It definitely helped, since some pages are getting ranked again. I installed analytics on October... before that I had statcounter for 2 years.

I have seen this happen over and over when I installed analytics, so im avoiding it in all other sites.

Some people will laugh Im sure, but im completely convinced that when you install analytics and google has 100% control over your site, they can penalize you for any small thing you do that they dont like... When you don't have analytics, they dont have 100% control over your site. Anyways.. if someone comes and laugh with this line, then take the time to answer all the doubts above.

I actually removed analytics a while ago and only put it back to monitor what was happening when the traffic dropped, so that is not the cause, the screen shot in my first post is from google webmaster tools, not anylitics
