Alexa rank update frequency ?

Hello,

Someone know the time frequency used by Alexa to update rankings ? I just notified yesterday I won 200.000k places

Alexa updates daily/weekly... but its ranking system means nothing. You can get to 200,000 just by 1 person visiting your site.

The Alexa system is hugely flawed.

yeah I heard thats not very accurate at least this gives a global idea of the rank, I see vbseo.com at alexa rank 10,933 actually , comptete gives #47500, that doesnt sound false but gives a nice global idea on the ranking. Will try Compete also, I hope to reach at least the top 100,000 ^^

I have, personally, never been a fan of the Alexa system.

I think what Joe is trying to say is that the Alexa has no use. Thats what I think at least.

alexa is the tracking of those who have the alexa toolbar installed.

it's stats are of those folks only.

it's a 'niche polling' at best, and hardly represents the entire internet user base.

can we find another site who give the same alexa service ?

the only way to monitor traffic like this is with a toolbar, or with a javascript, or a bot.

NOTHING will be totally accurate.

big-boards.com is a good service, but its only useful if you have 500,000 posts or more, and were able to get your board submitted to it in the first place. And then, it tracks forums by forum stats more than traffic

I wouldn't say that it has no use. However, I do not rely on it for anything at this time.

I personally do not rely on ranking. We measure our success in terms of traffic.

You can use Alexa if you want to determine your relative positioning in comparison to another website. However, I would consider it to be far from accurate.

Obviously, if a site has an extremely high Alexa rank, you can be fairly certain that these are successful sites.

However, in much more distant rankings, the value is diminished.
