404 not found, how do i redirect?

    Hello,
I had a brand new forum up and unfortunately google had all the forum category urls already indexed...when I installed vbseo it did all the url rewrites, now in google webmaster tools...showing around 967 pages not found with 404 errors.... how do I send all those pages to my homepage instead of just a "page doesnt exist" that is shows, can see all the invalid pages for site site:radardetectorreview.net

I went into vbseo control panel and told it to send 404 errors to my homepage...but when I try to access the pages that dont exist....still shows a 404 not found...

sending it to your homepage is exactly what you DON'T want to do.

if it doesn't exist, you WANT it to 404, so that it DROPS from the index.

check the member articls forum here. there's a 404 tracker addon using a custom script.
