But remember, people: This will only get your page lost in the google database because if you're in a competitive industry; where eveything gets re-tweeted, re-quoted, re-posted, etc....yeah, your article is going to get lost.

This is why, you need to create your own articles, your own posts...Quality posts = King.

RSS has one major benefit, I do not believe that it does anything worthwhile for SERPS = TRAFFIC purposes, but it does get spiders in the habit of visiting your site to index the fresh content.

The only issue is a potential duplicate contents... It might be penalized by the big G.

There is an easier way click on "Thread Tools" from the toolbar at the top of this thread, and click on "subscribe to this thread"

It is my opinion that when you get to the point that you are really get deap into SEO you will one day understand that Dup Penalty is a myth.

It is a case of relevance, google will return the most relevamt results. There a few simple tests you do your self to ebstablish that I am not just writing what ever comes to mins.

Have a read of this lot (note the it the links in the links that you need to read) when I get time I will post a few tests you can do yourself Article Marketing and the Duplicate Content Penalty Myth

Would it be considered bad etiquette to nofollow all external links when you are pulling some content from an RSS feed?

I've used this in the past for periods of time to help out traffic, another thing I've found helps a lot is to increase the amount of time it shows members being logged in. When the site only shows 10 people logged in new visitors often leave thinking the place is dead, when it looks like there are 50 or 100 people logged in the amount of new member registrations goes up and so does the post rate.

I don't show the "what's going on box" to guests at all.
They should focus on my content not the number of guests or members online

Thanks you for that nice thread!

    I have some questions
    - What part of the RSS do you post? The content or just the title and the description?
    - Are you removing threads/posts after X days? If yes, hasn't it a negative impact on the crawlers? The links are not valid anymore?
    - For each news do you create a thread? or do you have a thread for each feed and you post news in this thread?

Google panda killed a lot of the traffic you could gain by doing this.

A little trick to reduce server load if your running more than one feed on a subject to the same forum is to use an aggregator like RSS Mix - Mix any number of RSS feeds into one unique new feed!
Mix any number of RSS feeds into one unique new feed

If a feed drops or a site your taking feeds from ceases to exist you can cause an increase in server load. From my own experience, your feeds will also stop when they meet one with a problem. By putting all your feeds into an rss feed aggregator, you stop this and also free up server resources because your pulling the combined feeds from one point.
At the same time pulling rss feeds is a two way street
Those that think by limiting the amount of characters or words they allow in external feeds are safe from having the whole of a thread or post appearing on a blog or any other kind of website, think again.
There are loads of websites that now offer free services of turning a partial feed into a full feed.
Running feeds through feedburner wont save you either. Just google the term "rss to full feed"
