Agreed.. I also just changed mine to daily instead on instant. As stated before, I think that will be better, and I know I would prefer it too.

Excellent idea. Many times I visit a site and when I receive an e-mail, I just read that and don't bother visiting the site. This should bring back a few members and keep them browsing.

Wouldn't weekly be better than daily?

    Hi,
your suggestions are really interesting and partly within my task list respectively in action for some while.

    Although I have a question.
If you get user to register at your forum. How you make them active users?
Ok, I admit .. that's no easy question and furthermore a question with no perfect answer, but I would be pleased if you can share your experiences concerning this topic.

My experience is that users, that only want to download a archive-file (an executable tutorial script in example) register, download the attachment and leave the forum without browsing more threads, forums, ...

Ok, its obvious that the user is missing something ... maybe contents, maybe mass of active users(?) .. don't know.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Even the best site will have heaps and heaps of leechers who will just download and leave. There is nothing you can do to get rid of this, but some things can help, and by the sounds of things, you are aware of this, so you are most likely doing the things you require already.

if you do so, you should check if your users can read a feed of your threads ..

    There the content also exists!
    Example: http://www.vbseo.com/external.php?type=RSS2

Use and promote your RSS feed but truncate the feeds to only include a teaser: Trim newsfeed content - Page 2 - vBulletin.org Forum

then click the Copy Default Text button near the bottom. This will copy the default contents of the phrase to the textarea at the bottom, and allow you to customize it. Remove the following text from the textarea, and click Save:
Does it update automatically, once this changed has been implemented?
