And 4 days after i installed vbseo the spiders have arrived. I have one question though
2 days ago there was 1 msn bot that stayed for 5 mins and today 3 yahoo slurps for 10. How often do they hit the forums and will there be more of them next time?

Thanks in advance and vbseo rocks!!!

It varies. Some forums have numerous spiders hitting their pages multiple times daily.

They will spider your forums as often as it is to their benefit. Therefore, keep your content fresh, and make sure your pages are spiderable. Give them a reason to spider you, and they will.

The rule of thumb here is to give them reasons to return... especially with a new forum.

You will most likely be a google sandbox candidate, so it is vital you have lots of content.... lots, loads!!

If you are not already very very active... you could do worse than to think of ways to make your forum seem more active (Ghost accounts?).

If the spiders can see several things have changed each time they come around, then they'll come around again(with their friends) and likely more often.
