Up too 40,000+ indexed pages in google

    site:mustangevolution.com gives me Results 1 - 10 of about 40,300 from mustangevolution.com

This has been steadily climbing since I bought the software.

    November 1st, 2005 - Results 1 - 10 of about 34,000 from Mustangevolution.com
    November 4th, 2005 - Results 1 - 10 of about 35,000 from Mustangevolution.com

These are the only other comparisons that I have.

    Yahoo! sees Results 1 - 10 of about 29,000 for site:mustangevolution.com

and MSN sees only Page 1 of 714 results containing site:mustangevolution.com

So far I am really happy with the results I have moved steadily up in Google for the term Mustang Forums

This is all with about Results 1 - 10 of about 10,600 for link:http://www.mustangevolution.com 10K + pages linking back

Congratulations! I had a brief increase in indexed pages 17,300 for my forum, but I am now down to 200. I think it is due to vbseo pages getting indexed now, and old pages getting flushed.

I installed about 2 weeks after you did.

Yea I saw the same drastic decrease in pages as you did with your site. That is normal and it will slowly work it's way up.

I do believe however that a properly submitted sitemap created via their yaho/google sitemap generator helps speed this process up. Have your tried this yet? I would submit manually so that you can see how often your sitemaps are downloaded. Mine are downloaded atleast once a day by google.

I have done those, submitted manually as well. Right now, I am allowing the automatic submission to take care of things. while the number of pages in google are down on most datacenters, they are almost all vbseo'd pages so I think this is normal. I may do another manual submit though if it doesnt clear up quickly. I just dont want to go through that 1 minute hassle of redoing my vbseo setting so the sitemap gets verified.

You should only have to submit all the sitemap files you generate one time. As the sitemaps are generated they overwrite the old files and replace them with new ones. Google then downloads whatever latest sitemaps you have in your data folder.

So in my opinon I would turn off the pinging of google servers and submit the sitemaps that are generated manually. It is a one time thing and then you can monitor them from there. I have had mine submitted for the last 2 weeks with no errors. Google just redownloads the newer version everyday and I get all the urls listed that turn back 404 errors or other errors you get with bad links everynow and then.

Re: Up too 40,000+ indexed pages in google

One thing I would like to do take the time to compare my site with sites that I compete with for members.

For the sake of time I will only do google.

My current indexed pages in google: Results 1 - 10 of about 40,300 from mustangevolution.com

    Muscle-Mustangs.com: Results 1 - 10 of about 9,380 from muscle-mustangs.com

Stangnet (note this site is 10 times the size of mine and has been around years longer): Results 1 - 10 of about 33,400 from stangnet.com

    Corral.net (same as above):Results 1 - 10 of about 19,000 from corral.net

Those are my three biggest competitors and I believe that speaks volumes as I am the only one of the above to use VBSEO

to be sure I understand correctly. You don't have yours set up where it runs automatically? For instance. Mine is set to automatically generate a sitemap once per day, then google gets a notification.

Not sure I am understanding exactly what you are doing.

I have mine set to run every night at 3:20AM

I turn off the notification because I submitted my sitemaps to google manually.

You only have to submit the sitemaps one time to google sitemap page and you are done. It will automatically grab the current created sitemap from your server when it updates.

    Get what I am saying?

With notification turned off, does it still grab your sitemaps daily? I have my added to my Google Webmaster account too, but I also have it notifying just to make sure it keeps getting updates.

    yeah, I gotcha now.

Mine is currently being downloaded daily, but if it will still get downloaded regularly without knocking on googles door, that works for me as well.
