    Traffic dropping on our sites

We have two medium communities immobilio.it - La pił Grande Community Immobiliare Italiana and propit.it - Community Proprietari Immobiliari started in 2008/2009.
Since the beginning have always grown, but in the last two month have seen a traffic drop (from 13.000 visit per day to 7/8.000).

    What could be causing this?

Webmasters Tools say that all working good, vB and vBSEO last versions, site maps and all the rest is ok as always. (I think)

If you've an idea, please help me.

    Thanks

Is it just search traffic that has dropped? if so, check that you weren't hacked:

Exact same thing is happening to us with our forum also. It's Google Panda update affecting allot of websites I believe. We're down 30%!

Im in the same boat. Traffic has dropped by between 30% and 50%
Earning from my adds, I wont even go there with the impact
My traffic dropped in a similar way it did to when I had a code injection last year

When you read about google panda and the impact its had on some of the bigger websites, some are down 99%
Google 'Panda' update downgrades UK tech sites - and Microsoft's Ciao | Technology | guardian.co.uk

Reading between the lines, it looks as though some have had problem caused due to the rss feeds and being classed as content farms
One of the downfalls of vbulletin is not having the ability to turn on and off individual forums rss feeds
In 3.8, its either all or nothing
Im testing to see what kind of effect limiting what forums have feeds, has on getting traffic back to a decent level
There is a 3.8 mod over at the org for doing that
Sorky - RSS Feed Link - vBulletin.org Forum
My classifieds I have had to do a deny from all on the feeds via htaccess and only allow my forums access to those feeds

It does look like google has looked after google on this one

Could also have something to do with Panda or some other general fluctuation. Is it all search traffic thats dropping or other sources as well?

Google (81,3% of all visits) and Bing (2% of all visits). Other sources are stable or growing...

Your forum and website have too many adv in the first scroll.
Panda seems not to like them, check this video for more info http://vimeo.com/24964206

Looking at your rss feeds, you have them enabled on all forums
Reduce how the amount of words that can be taken on each feed.
At the moment people can subscribe and take the whole post
I cant remember how to do it off hand, Brian posted on here a year or three back on how to reduce that to something like the first 50 or 60 words

With the recent pr update, someone could have been bleeding you dry and now out rank you on google with your own work

Thank you sev3n, but I've only two ads in first scroll... I don't think this is really bad for Google. Anyway I'll try to disable one of them.

Thank you Lee, I didn't know that complete RSS feed could be negative for indexing...

Its not so much being negative.
Forums are a great place for unique content
Say you have a lot of threads about cars.
A website that ranks well for car information takes your feeds.
They then benefit from lots of unique content your members produce and could out rank you for it, even though its originally your own content
By reducing the amount of content you have to say a paragraph, you then benefit from a possible back link
Add into the equation the use of nofollow tags, which a lot of websites use and is also an option on vbseo for all outgoing links and you could find your giving other websites full blown content with little or no value to your own forum

Since being hit myself in what sounds like a similar way. I have gone through and stopped hot linking of images
I run a weather website, which ranks poorly. Live weather information, weather cam etc
As soon as I added the edited htaccess to that site, my forums page load times almost doubled in speed on loading
My forums are on the same server

This is the site I used to create the code I use in my own htaccess
Hotlink protection of images with .htaccess

The code it generates, add to your htaccess file after the vbseo rewrite rules

I also went a stage further and created another htacess file with just that code in and put it in folders like the smiles, avatars etc.
Probably not needed, but I was being over precarious at the time

From time to time you might find other websites using your members avatars or as I recently had, people using my similes on other forums
The give away to that one was a lot of hits on the smiley list page
