    SEO and web hosting

I'm thinking of setting up some content sites and using them to push up the ranking of my main site.

Do you think it's important to host each site with a different host or is that not so important? I've read different things and I want some more opinions. I see there are even some SEO hosts who'll give you different IPs for your same account. Does it help? A lot or a little?

I already have a dedicated server so I don't really want to spend extra on more hosts unless it really will help.

    Any thoughts?

Maybe I wasn't clear. I actually do write quality content and these would be REAL links. I'm just asking whether it helps to host my different sites on different servers.

    Hello Chris ,

I will also suggest the same as Brian. If you are writing quality content , you should keep all of them on your main site. However if you plan to use different websites just to bring linkback to your main site you should use different ip to each of your domain.

How important is it that sites linking to each other have different ip addresses?

I have several real sites (as opposed to shells created simply for linking purposes) that I would like to link to each other. Will they receive a lot less oomph from one another because they are on the same ip address? Would the extra oomph they would receive if on different ip addresses be worth paying for an additional dedicated server each month?

    Thanks

That's what I want to know too. Hopefully the way you phrased it will get a better response!

Does anyone have any additional thoughts about whether it is much more beneficial in terms of SEO to pay for two hosting plans or dedicated servers so that two real sites can link to each other from different ips, as opposed to two real sites linking to one another from the same ip?

    Post IPs are important

    Guys,

Keeping different IPs for all your site simply indicates to the search engines that the Links are pretty natural. However, if you have the same IPs, search engines become skeptical about such links and yes may not give the extra oomph that you may otherwise have got. Infact, there are instances when search engines have penalized websites of spam.

Moreover, I believe, when there is too much of competition in every vertical, the factors, even if they slightly make a difference, should not be ignored. That way you actually gain grounds over your competitor
