What is BounceRate? Is mine good / bad /average?

your bounce rate is phenomenal almost to the point where i would think something is wrong the tracking. I hover around 60%.

What caused your spikes on those 2 days? lots of visits and lots of reg's.

rc5 worked, kinda. didn't track guests properly
rc6 didn't work at first... i supplied a little code block and oleg tweaked it. manual edited rc6 it tracked
rc7 was busticated.
rc8 it now works good

There was an incident at USP Atwater where a correctional officer was killed unfortunately. That was the cause for the spike on those days.

60% and .09 is a HUGE split. Are there other ways to track the rate to see if it is correct?

since you are setting this for everyone, its not counting bounces correctly. You're on RC5... that version was buggy.
upgrade to RC8, and you'll see the bounces increase to a real figure.
