    Progress: Obesity Discussion Forums

The day after I had VBSEO installed I lost 25% of my links on Yahoo and about half of my pages on Yahoo. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not. Big thanks to T2DMan for all his help! Hope this works out! Started of with a PR4 homepage and a PR3 forum index, but we changed the URL for the forum index so the PR3 will go bye bye. :(

    Day 1:

    Pages:

    Google: 8910
    Google VBSEO: 0

    Yahoo: 2574 (was 5000+ a day ago)
    Yahoo VBSEO: 0

    MSN: 42
    MSN VBSEO: 0

Have about 213 members, and was getting about 1 new member signing up every day from mid January to late February, and from late February to Early March (about a week and a half) I have been getting about 2 new members a day (all before VBSEO).

    Day 2

    Day 2:

    Pages:

    Google: 9020
    Google VBSEO: 0

Yahoo: 2473 (was 5000+ two days ago)
Yahoo VBSEO: 4 this morning (now down to 1)

    MSN: 42
    MSN VBSEO: 1

Man my yahoo is tanking :( The only thing I've noticed differently yesterday and today was that I am getting slightly more than usual spiders from Yahoo, and I've never had more than 1 or 2 MSN spiders hit my site in a day, but I already have 5 today.

No need to track indexed pages daily. The results can vary greatly from day to day, and the numbers returned by "site:domain.com" searches are already known to be inaccurate.

Just track your search engine referrals on a monthly basis. That's your goal; to get more traffic sent to your site from search engines.

I wasn't planning on it, just wanted to show that after 1 day VBSEO pages were showing up, that's all

Well, here is an update. It's only been 2.5 weeks, so I am not expecting much to date. Here are my unique visitors. The only reason I thought there was a spike on 3/25 (yesterday) was because I sent out some emails to people in my target market who had never been to the site before, but my google referrals also spiked that day, and they also seem to be up a lot again today as well....

Here are my google organic referrals.

You'll notice that there is a direct correlation between my unique visitors and my google referrals. About 62% of my traffic comes from google.

I'm getting next to nothing from Yahoo, so I'm not even going to bother.

    Pages:

    Google: 8,510
    Google VBSEO: 2,830

    Yahoo: 2537
    Yahoo VBSEO: 960

    MSN: 64
    MSN VBSEO: 26

Lastly, I have fallen down or stayed the same in the SERPS for almost all of my keywords, and many of them drastically.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but what does the term "Organic Referrals" mean?

My understanding is that organic referrals are visitors referred by an unpaid search engine listing.

Yes - that is correct. Also sometimes referred to as referrals from "natural search results".

Non-organic referrals are typically from: "pay per click" or "sponsored" traffic.

Update on PR....forum index went from a PR0 to a PR2, and all my main forums that I targeted for marketing got a PR3, and all the other forums I didn't market got a PR2. Homepage is still a PR4, which is nice considering I've lost about 80% of my incoming links since I haven't maintained them well lately. Google referrals haven't gone up in the last few weeks, and may have even gone down a bit. I've also noticed that I've been falling in the SERPs for a lot of my keywords that were a lot stronger before VBSEO.

    Yahoo: 1116

    MSN VBSEO: 53

So surprisingly my VBSEO pages have flattened out, even though I am continuing to add more content by the day.

Well, time for another update. My google referrals have flattened out and even declined a bit overall. I'm continuing to add good content, but I am not sure why my referrals are dropping. I really need to get back to incoming links to my site. I haven't kept track of those I established and need to work on more. I've lost a lot in the last 6 months or so.

However, google referrals went up drastically the last few days because somehow, I just got ranked #1 in google for a new TV show on TLC for obesity surgery and it has sent me about 75 referrals a day. I'm not sure why I hit #1 in google for this with many more powerful sites having similar information. Here is the thread on my site that hit #1 in google: Big Medicine TLC . I wish I knew why google made me #1 over all these other sites.

    Pages:

    Google: 4130 (Big tumble)
    Google VBSEO: 4,050

    Yahoo: 5167 (All time high)
    Yahoo VBSEO: 960

    MSN: 55
    MSN VBSEO: 55

    Thought I'd jump in....it's been a while.

    Google: 5590
    Google VBSEO: 5600

Yahoo and MSN (who really cares) at an all time high for pages.

I'll be honest, VBSEO hadn't done much for me traffic-wise from March until mid August, and in fact, I fell further down in the SERPs for some of my keywords after my VBSEO install. Some of this could have been due to a lack of new incoming links to my site. A good portion of my unique traffic from March to July was unrelated and coming from off-topic information on my site.

.....but then I started scoring some good links this last month, and also wording things better on my site, and my google referrals out of no where went up by a lot this last week. Again, I don't know how much of this can be tied to VBSEO, but things are getting better as of late, and today should be an all time record high in unique google referrals. I almost hit 1000 uniques twice last week, and will probably hit that today going by today's pace. A good day for my site used to be 200-250 total visitors, and now a good day is 1200-1250. I'm definitely on the right track, I just hope I can keep this up. I need to keep linking.

Thanks to the searchmaster for all his valuable help!

Holy crap, talk about progress!!!! Alexa rankings have been going through the roof!

Not to mention my traffic is doing great as well!!!

As for pages indexed, just this month I went from a little over 100 pages in MSN to over 35,000!!! MSN has been sending me about 200 unique visitors a day! I'm also on the front page of google for my 3 main keywords.....#1 for obesity forum, and in the top 10 for diet forum and weight loss forum. For a while I was even on the front page for the word obesity by itself! On my best days I get over 1300 uniques.

    Pages:

    Google: 5360
    Google VBSEO: 5050

    Yahoo: 13,355 (All time high)
Yahoo VBSEO: 6640 (All time high)

    MSN: 37,000 (All time high)
MSN VBSEO: 33,500 (All time high)

Thanks again to T2DMan, the searchmaster Michael Brandon for all his help!
