    New to vbSEO...

I have a successful forum I started in 2000 that immediately started showing up on Search Engines. Especially after I switched to vB in about 2003. I never did anything special and even to this day I get hits on all search engines and high up. I figured with my previous success it would be easy to start another forum in about 2004. Well, it is like Yahoo and Google don’t even know I exist. I even pay for Google Ads and those will be the only links that show up. The server is same as my other and the setup is the same as my other forums as far as I know. Even very very unique searches that can be found no where else on the internet aren’t hit from my site. I installed vbSEO this past weekend to see if that would help, but so far no increased traffic.

I’m new to this. First of all, how can I confirm that Yahoo and Google are crawling my site and how do I get the “pages indexed” stats. At one time a year ago in Google I submitted my website and it said they were crawling it. Based on the results they either aren’t or aren’t indexing any content.

    Thanks,
    rob

Your other site has a listing in dmoz.org and some wikipedia references. I'm sure that helps. dmoz used to be a significant factor. Back at that time it would have given you some nice forward momentum.

You have references to your other forum in the Javascript within your new site. I would recommend copying this JS code to the new site, so you can reference it locally on the domain.

Try out our Relevant Replacements feature.

Is our sitemap installed too? This will help.

Perhaps change your welcome text to include some relevant keywords.

Add some forum descriptions for each of your sub-forums.

Possible to get AviatorChat.com listed on dmoz.org? Do listings in Wiki still help?

AviatorChat.com has references to FerrariChat.com in the JS? I know many users post links and ref to FerrariChat.com because many of the users are users there too.

How do people get the stats I see posted how many pages Google and Yahoo have indexed from their sites?

Anyone know why I can have an exact text string not anywhere else on the internet and search engines still don’t list AviatorChat.com although they list dozens of other sites not even relevant.

    Thanks!

dmoz.org listings are still possible to my knowledge. However, the last few times I've played with it, the listings did not get approved. This could indicate a lack of active editors, or simply *biased* editors who slipped through the cracks.

Wikipedia links still hold weight. Be prepared for a lengthy debate if you plan on adding your own link to a resource, or adding a page about you. You'll likely run into a lot of resistance.

You can get a rough and unreliable estimate of the number of pages you have indexed with:

    site:mysite.com
at Google. For vBSEO optimized pages, use:

    site:mysite.com vbseo
Give your SEO some time. You just started with vBSEO this month. Check back with us in about 1 month from today. Perhaps at that time your crawling/indexing/ranking will have improved.

Let us know when you start ranking for the statistically improbable keyword phrase (ie. "unique text string").

Sorry, not sure what you mean. Where and what do I enter? Thanks.

    Interesting...

FerrariChat.com gets 45,700 pages. Has 175,000 threads, so not all sure what its picking up, but very easy to find stuff with both Yahoo and Google on FerrariChat.

AviatorChat.com gets 552 pages normal and only 1 page with site:aviatorchat.com vbseo and that page isn't part of vB. AC has 838 threads. % wise it actually seems AC has more pages indexed than FC.

I would remove the ferrarichat javascript references used in the aviatorchat template and see if that has any impact in about 1 month's time.
