My indexed URLs are decreasing in Google. Please, help

    Hi,
I notice that my indexed URLs decrease drastically.
I am using Joomla and VB. I use also VBSEO. VBSEO helped me to index up to 25000 urls in Google.

Today, the Total URLs in my VBSEO Sitemap is : 56301 . But only 3670 URLs are indexed from this sitemap. While i had before more than 25000 URLs indexed. It decreases everyday.

    Whan can explain this ?

There is no issue about the indexed URLs of my Joomla pages.

It's still early for you Shawn, since you're in your first week.

Firstly, you have to keep in mind that Google's "site:" feature is not completely reliable. We advise to use it only for "trends" over longer periods of time (several months).

Secondly, this is a naturally and *positive* part of the vBSEO phenomenon. Once you install, vBSEO starts helping Google to purge all noise, duplicate, garbage content out of the index, so they can focus exclusively on crawling your valuable content pages only.

Check out this post on "link consistency", "link consensus" to find out more about the real power of the vBSEO URL Rewrites.

    Hello,
Actualy, i have been using VBSEO for almost one year. And of course, i noticed that it helped me indexing lots of my urls. But, in the last past three months, i noticed that the indexed urls can drastically decrease and some weeks later, it increases. But, this time, the number of indexed urls is too low.
Of course, i use the Google Webmaster tools to check how many urls have been indexed from my sitemaps.

Also, I would recommend to keep the inbound links increasing steadily, even if slowly.. that keeps the PR up on your site. If you PR is dropped, the bots won't crawl as deeply or as often.

I had this problem recently, while not on such a large scale but almost half my indexed pages were dropped for about a week. Traffic stayed the same though, and now the number indexed has tripled and traffic is steadily increasing with the numbers.

Google referrers are at over 500 for this month already, and its a extremtly small site

It could be related to SEO of your website rather than Joomla or VBSEO

Google has been acting pretty weird as of late. A few months ago I had around 600,000 pages indexed. Last week it went up to 3.5 Million and now I'm back to 650,000. My web site has always had a PR3 which doesn't make much sense to me but as I've grown to realize your PR doesn't mean much at the end of the day. It's all about traffic traffic traffic.

Lots of thing happened since i opened this thread.
Because, currently, Google has indexed 39700 urls of my pages.

But why i am anxious and worried is that Google is visiting my site less frequently and that the number of visitors sent by Google based on search results is also decreasing day by day. but curiously, the indexed pages is increasing.

I can see that by monitoring my site activity using Google Analytics and another tool called crawltrack.

Even Yahoo visits more pages than Google, now, while in the past, it was Google who was visiting thousands of pages per day.

Yesterday, i had only 152 visits from Google.
    Am i having a penality ?

In Google's webmasters admin tool, in the diagnostic side, i can see that it complains that thousands of some of my pages have the same title.

I have decided to put the single posts in the sitemap. I.E. If my thread's title is : "My Thread", then the thread url will look like :
    h*ttp://www.mysite.com/forums/my-thread-123.html

And each post will have urls like :
    [post1] :
    h*ttp://www.mysite.com/forums/my-thread-123-post1.html

    [post2] : h*ttp://www.mysite.com/forums/my-thread-123-post2.html

    [post3] : h*ttp://www.mysite.com/forums/my-thread-123-post3.html

    etc.

And it is complaining that the urls of the posts have the same titles.
And i don't know how to workaround this.

Maybe i am doing wrong in my config. I don't know.

I am using VBSEO 3.0.0 and VBSEO Sitemap Generator 2.1.

    I will appreciate any help.
