# of indexed pages remains unchanged for 3 weeks so far after vBSEO install

I installed vBSEO(3.2 Gold on vB3.6.8) around 3 weeks ago right after the release of vBSEO 3.2 Gold, and more than a week ago I installed SiteMap generator.

So far I haven't seen any change in terms of my search engine organic traffic, even the number of Google indexed pages hasn't changed. I have around 20,000 submitted URLs but Google indexed pages somehow always stays on 2 numbers: 1930 and 2040. For example, today could be 2040 but tomorrow it could change back less to 1930.

I have a robots.txt that blocks some forum pages(such as calendar etc).

Am I missing something here?

that's good. you're in the transition period right now. just sit tight. it's out of your control. you'll see massive flucuations while old links get removed and new links get put it. a month from now, you'll be wondering why you ever worried

Good reminder. It turns out they are all old ones. Like ../forums/6256-post105.html or ../forums/showthread.php?p=1657 etc

Why the new vBSEO links are not showing in my indexed pages?

../forums/6256-post105.html is not a stand vB url. did you have another re-write program at one point?

No. I didn't. Do you think something is wrong with my site?

I have a development environment which uses a subdomain. I installed vBSEO 3.1 on the development site several weeks before production site, and vBSEO links got indexed with development site.

that is a showpost URL on default vbseo settings... so you are starting to get indexed with the new ones.

That said, i HIGHLY suggest turning off show post re-write, blocking showpost.php in robots.txt, and use 'replace showpost with permalink" option.

I have following in my robots.txt:
Disallow: /forums/showpost.php
Disallow: /forums/showgroups.php
Disallow: /forums/spiders.php

Where to turn off show post re-write? Couldn't find it in vBSEO control panel.

you will have to expand the preset with the (+) to see the options for showpost.

@FLR, please don't thread jack. start your own critique thread.

that way showpost.php still renders as showpost.php and that way you can block them ALL in one easy robots command.

when re-written, there's no easy way to block them (As each post is slightly different name/id)

and, with the use of perma-links, showpost is all but useless

Oh, be sure to turn off showpost from your sitemap as well

Thanks for elaboration. As to Sitemap is it the option Include Show Post Pages? Current it is Yes by default, I suppose I should set it to No?
