I'm a little scared ...

Hi,

I just setup vBSeo a week ago and I notice a small drop but my index page increase for almost a double.
I notice a drop on my main keyword too and have a few site map errors.

Is this a normal reaction after installing vBSeo?
Am I doing something wrong?

I read the ultimate guide a follow all tips I found useful here.
I run the validator checker and had no errors.
I've done a small change (Rewrite .html or slash? what's the better option?). Can this be a problem?
I take care to redirect all threads (301 redirect) from html to slash.

Some help will be appreciated.

Thanks

n

It'll take a while to kick in, but don't worry you will get your keywords back and much more.

The first month IS rocky. It's normal, and good.

Google isn't instant. It takes them a while to re-index everything, drop the old pages, etc etc.

Stick it out. Just the fact that you're seeing rocky times is in fact a GOOD sign that vbseo is starting to do it's magic for you

I agree with briansol. As he pointed the same out to me and already in 2 weeks things are really looking up. Hang in there. Don't be scared

Hi ...

Here is an update ...
Should I remain calm? When will I see a takeoff?

Is there any relationship between a new forum design (this one more clean and lighter) and the number of new users came from google?

My forum is a niche travel so, I think it should be normal for new users to cam down after summer, or not?

Feedback appreciated!

Thanks

Did you start out with the .html version? If so, how long before you switched to the directory version?

You might want to get rid of this from your robots.txt:

Hi Joe,

I start at 9-9-2008 with html and changed 2 or 3 days after to vBSeo url style, but I was careful with this change and redirect the few html to the new ones with a 301.
At this time I haven't got any .html in google and I am always looking for errors at webmaster tools.
I haven't lost SERP's. All mains keywords still in the same position and I only notice a drop in visitors.

Here is my .htaccess

Quote:
Options -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On

# Redirect to WWW
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.domain\.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

# Rewrite html to slash

RewriteRule ^f([0-9]+)/(.+)-([0-9]+)-([0-9]+)\.html$ /forum/f$1/$2-$3/index$4.html [NC,R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^f([0-9]+)/(.+)-([0-9]+)\.html$ /forum/f$1/$2-$3/ [NC,R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^f([0-9]+)/i([0-9]+)\.html$ /forum/f$1/index$2.html [NC,R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^tags/(.+)\.html$ /forum/tags/$1/ [NC,R=301,L]

# vBSeo Setup

RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(admincp/|modcp/|cron|redir\.php)
RewriteRule ^((archive/)?(.*\.php(/.*)?)?)$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !^(admincp|modcp|clientscript|cpstyles|images)/
RewriteRule ^(.+)$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]

I already change my robots.txt to a valid file without *.php.
What do you think??
Does a style change can have impact in google?

Thanks

A style change can have impact. It depends on what changes with the style.

I think the change could have impacted you temporarily. 2 large changes detected in a few days span. Give it another 2 weeks and let us know if you recover.

Of course, you should also check out these resources in the time being as well:

Hi,

Here i am again and things remain the same ... :(
Joe, the design was new but similar, since was based on the old one with a lighter color.
I've done almost everything from the guides! It's almost one month from the installation.
I'll wait a few weeks to see where it goes, but if you have any ideas I'm all ears

you have some weird breaks in your code...

check your templates.
Other than that, i can't read a line of that language so i can't be very helpful.

Focus on content.

Hi Brian ...

Thanks again one more time for you advices.
I already turn off the 24 hour users for guests.

Regarding the template, I found that it was the Cyb - Thread Listing Make-Up - vBulletin.org Forum that is doing this, but the code is valid as I tested.
Should I remove it?

Well ... the language is Portuguese. The talk is about traveling.

I'm waiting for a new logo this week more travel related for an easy identification of the subject.

I'll evaluate the best threads and the keywords that drive more visitors to start writing more content!

This is hard

Hi ...

I don't want to get to excited , but today I just found out that I was 1st in a search term that drives more visitors for my site.
All the other top search terms remain almost the same.
I was 3rd for more than a year. This is very soon to take some conclusions, so lets wait a few more weeks, since I have notice some traffic drop since the summer.
