Unhappy How to improve Traffic to my site using VBSEO

I got VBSEO installed in my forum by Vbulletin team 4 months back expecting good no of hits.Even after 4 months the hits are just 70-100 per month.

Do I need to change any settings to improve the traffic???? Or VBSEO is not working properly.

Any expert guidence will be appreciated.

I have this problem to i was going to post on here, we have installed vBSEO for a while now and we have seen no difference in traffic at all. I am pretty sceptical now about us spending the money. I have been trying a ton of different ways for SEO and adwords and everything and we cannot get any more traffic. It is getting very upsetting, we are a small company and cannot afford a team to do work that we can do for free and pay thousands of dollars.

PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP US??

Fortunately, I think there is a lot you can do to improve:
  • On your homepage, the list of recent forum posts is not rewritten. You either need to upgrade this, or remove it.
  • Your forum is within welcome/diycommunity/, and the you go even deeper for sub-forums. Why not collapse this right to your root domain?
  • I think your forum homepage is not necessary. Take them right to the forum home page displaying all your sub-forums.
  • Move the Top 5 stats or make it only available for members.
  • Update or get rid of that default welcome message.
  • You have a bunch of private forums. You can't get traffic unless you open them up.
  • Why do you have a link to a "fitness" site on the bottom of your page? That doesn't seem relevant to do-it-yourself to me.
In general, I think you need to go over everything in the following thread. Once you do this, I think you're going to make significant improvements.

Right now - you really don't have enough accessible content to get any real traffic.

Thank you!

Thank you very much for the review. Before this site I was new to vBulletin. I want to move my forums to the main directory but i am to nervous that i will mess up the database or what not. The reason i have the Joomla front page is because we have a virtue-mart store which we can still access through a link. The vBadvanced can hurt seo? We like it because of the layout and stuff. Again I am new to this and I am trying very hard to learn as much as i can with my full time IT job taking most time. As far as the locked forums i thought i opened most up. We have some that are for premium members but is it mostly related to what guests can see for our crawling? I am guessing that is why i see the bots reading with restricted access warnings. Its hard when there are not many other coders and designers around me locally to figure stuff out. I am very open to suggestions. I was trying to inbound links with that one. I know that linking with bigger sites helps but again at a loss there where to go with a limited budget.

I have one question, if we are trying to keep people signing up but still need the content to be accessable....open to guests? Does that open to spam? Just do not let them post? Sorry I am just very excited to get things going. So you are saying the Joomla is ok after reading? Just dont mimic again with the vBadvanced? The default welcome message you mean if they are not a guest? Edit the php? Sorry I had a long day and then see this great post and am excited to again get things going....Thank you so much again!!

You should restrict posting to registered users only, but keep content open to guests.

A homepage with any CMS (such as Joomla, or even vBA) is fine, as long as the content on the page is valuable. If not, don't use it. Just take them right to the forum display page.

Your homepage was ok, but you need to figure out how to get the forum links rewritten, or remove them from the page.

vBulletin has an option in the control panel to change the welcome message.

Thank you very much, yeah SEO is VERY fustrating even with books and all on your desk. Some days its so worth paying someone to help out but cannot as a small company afford to bring larger help in. Thanks will look at my keywords.

Is there anything out there to get help with site analysis? I mean we dont have much money to afford a full SEO analysis but we need to get our name out there and its tough with a full time job and all and then managing the site.
