    Some years ago.directories were helpful for both traffic as well as backlinks.But now a days,directories do not provide huge traffic but they are still useful for search engines because they are kind of permanent backlinks so helps us to improve our website ranking in SEs.

    For me.. a big no.. it was not useful. My keywords are already in a big competition and now..its not of any use.

    I believe that directory submission is still important to build backlinks. Most of the people think that directory submission is just a waste of time, however, Google does value the directory listings if they are submitted to quality directories that are well organized, well structured and human edited such as Dmoz.
