Has submitting to directories helped your SERPS?

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if submitting to directories has helped your SERPS? I've read on the one hand that search engines afford little to no weight to directories and on the other that you should try to get a back link anywhere and everywhere you can. Has anyone experienced an increase in traffic on account of a directory submission campaign?

    Thanks!

DigiXMAS is one of the easiest directory submitters to use. Think its about $10 per url for the full product. Life time use from what I have seen so far.
Plus they update the directories all the time. You dont get much if any traffic from the directory listings, but it all helps with your back links.

I am not sure how much they help in improving your rankings but they do help in building one way backlinks to your website and if you are lucky you could see some traffic coming as well.

Well, directory submission is one of the link building activities which take time to show results. I don't think submitting to directories can help serps much. May be to some extent. But I do not find it much effective in terms of SERPS.

I'm surprised to hear that directory submissions still bestow an SEO benefit via backlinks. I would have thought that Google would discount links from most directories heavily as compared to links from other types of sites since most directories are either link farms or pay for inclusion link farms, which Google presumably likes even less.

It depends on the directory where you submit the website. If it having a good PR, then it can help in improving the ranking of keywords, but if you are submitting in directories which are full of spam, it may hurt the rankings. Just do 10 submissions in quality directories every day. It will be helpful.
