I got a total of 5 pages showing up that are not supplemental, and they are all 1-2 years old.

Yep. They do.
Yeah...I've had my site up for nearly a year now, I've got my homepage in the cache...and thats it...I'm not index :( Plus...I have a PR 4...so Idk wth is going on.
LOL, I had 60,000 current pages indexed just a couple weeks ago, almost none of them were supplemental. Alot of sites are looking like crap today, I hope these results get somewhat fixed soon.
Looks to be temporary problems for me, they dropped 60k+ pages (hit 50k) , after a week I got them back plus a few thousand extra site:dutchbodybuilding.com - Google zoeken
So what do you call a problem that has existed for almost a year now? lol. This current crap is just a drop in the bucket compared to the last 8 months.
I was hoping this was just going to be a one or two day thing. As of today, I am still getting these pathetic results. No excuse for two year old cached pages to show up.
The very first page that shows up on google doesnt exist, and hasn't existed in over a year.
Are there any news regarding this from Google? Cutts?

I don't seen anything worth reading over the past couple months on Matt Cutt's blog, definately not anything related to this.
Can anybody tell me what are the supplemental pages and are they useful or harmful for the search engine rankings?

No one knows for sure what Sup's are. There's at least 100 different version on the web telling different things, and no offical answer from google.
they are exactly what you don't want though... so they are bad. but, they are better than no ranking.
I have them now too... its google, not you. Don't change anything. Let them fix their problem and hopefully things will be back to normal soon.
Personally, I love Google. They are the only search engine that has ever paid me money. Lots of money.
They used to be a lot better to me but relationships evolve that way.

Well, I have seen my site climb as hight as 60,000 pages to 80,000 pages indexed over the past couple days. Tons of old content showing up, much of which does not exist, and hasn't for over a year.
Very frustrating, but nothing that can be done about it.
Slowly but surely, google is getting newer and newer content showing for my site. What started out as 1-2 year old cached pages a few weeks ago has gradually gotten newer. I am not showing cached pages from February/March of this year. Indexed pages changes every time I do a search.
I'm hoping to see some google results soon.. They're visiting about 350 times per day on diff URL's according to the sitemap tracker.. Don't know when they plan to do an update though :(
