    Google in different countries

I've only just realised that Google shows different search results based on where you are in the world.

    (I'm a bit dumb, admittedly.)

My site ranks in the top 5 of Google results when people search 'NLP' from the UK, but it's more like 50 when people search from the US or some other countries.

I'd like to be in the top 5 for the whole English-speaking world.

Is there anything I can do to tell Google I'm not just a UK site? What do they take into account? I'm guessing server location and more?

    Any tips?

Please check your Webmasters account. Within tools you can Set geographic target for your site but if you have a co.uk domain Google will always give the priority to UK search.

It's a .com domain and no geographic target is set.

You could try setting it to the US if you want to target that demographic more.

Do you have any links from US based sites?

You are also hosted physically in the UK as well?

I was thinking about Geo target other day, but after reading and seeing the video I gave up the ideia.
Geo target is a good option if you have a local business ... If you are trying to target a language, let google do the job.

There is special locating metatag you can use to include your self at special google.

<meta http-equiv="content-language" content="en" /> (you can do "de" for german language)
<META NAME="geo.region" CONTENT="DE,AT,CH"> (This targets you google.de google.at and google.ch) you can add more. It depends on what you prefer.
