Finding out whats indexed and whats not?

What is the best way to keep track of what the search engines have indexed on your site? Do you just go to google and type in your url or is there another way to find out how much of your site is indexed?

    Thanks in advance

There is currently no accurate way of finding that information. A search for site:domain.com will give a general idea, but that number will vary a lot based on which datacenter it hits, and other fluctuations within the search engines.

So how do we really keep track of how we're doing as far as the search engines? Analytics is pretty much it?

Analytics is a good tool. It will let you track your search engine referrals, which are ultimately determined by how well your site is indexed.
